I am reading these posts with a heavy heart. I am just coming out of a 3 month journey with my 13 yr old, schizophrenic, autistic, psychotic, disassociative social disorder son, like all of you are going through. I feel lucky in many ways, because my son has been accepted into a residential facility & is finally getting the help he needs. He has tried to commit suicide 5 times, attacked me & my husband multiple times. It took 3 months of Crisis visits, inpatient stays at a mental hospital 3 seperate times & his being black listed from said mental hospital, before someone listened. The difference for us, is the state we live in, Tennessee, has Tenncare( state funded Medicaid) & they are paying for his help & the facility. I highly suggest to look for this option in your state or even apply for social security & disability benefits for your child, because once they are diagnosed with the things I have read on here, they qualify & these will only help you get your child better help! Don't give up either, as you will be turned down at least twice for both. Keep applying with an attorney! If a move to a state with more options is feasible, do it. My heart goes out to all of you, truly. I hope & pray all of you find peace.
